Labuan Harbour, 1890 - 1899
Scope and Contents
269 x 206 mm. General view looking across palm trees towards Labuan Harbour, with a village of houses on piles in the middle ground. The island of Labuan at the entrance to Brunei Bay was ceded to Great Britain by the Sultan of Brunei in 1846 and became a Crown Colony in 1848. From 1890-1906 it was administered as part of British North Borneo and from 1907-1912 as a part of the Straits Settlements. Numbered in bottom left hand corner on the negative '550. Labuan Harbour' and blind (oval) stamp in bottom right hand corner 'GR Lambert & Co., Singapore'.
