Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y3029A/8

Scope and Contents

206 x 265 mm. Group portrait of three Kachin warriors. These men conform to Scott's description of the costume of the Northern (Khakhu) Kachins: 'Generally speaking the Khakhus wear a narrow turban wound round the head, but not concealing completely the top knot of hair; a coat with long sleeves, generally dyed with indigo, and without embroidery, and a striped oblong piece of cloth, just about the size of a bath-towel, which they pass around the... waist and secure in front by a twist.' (Scott 1900, volume 1, part 1, page 397).
