Scope and Contents

An album measuring 305 x 250 mm. containing albumen reproductions of 24 paintings by the Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906). Numbers 1-22 relate to Indian mythology and are accompanied by printed captions explaining their subjects. Numbers 23-24 (also captioned) are portraits of women. Numbers 3, 17, and 21-23 are signed in the image by V.G. Chiplonkar, who may have been responsible for the others. Chiplonkar was associated with Baroda and may have been its court photographer. A note at the beginning of the album by Littledale states that it was given to him by Chiplonkar at Baroda.

This album was received after the original gift of Littledale albums, Y3022G-I, and is stored with them.
