Moira, presumably named after Francis Rawdon Hastings, Earl of Moira and Governor General of Bengal 1813-23, ‘Before retracing my steps I secured three or four negatives of the splendid peaks around the glacier. One, a sugar-loaf-looking mountain called Mount Moira, 22,621 feet high, was a fine object and came out grandly in my pictures’, (B.J.P., 1 April 1870, p. 149).Bourne no. 1545.
