View from the Thibet [Tibet] road at Pangi, 1866
Scope and Contents
294 x 243 mm. View looking along the road, which curves round an outcrop on the cliffs in the left foreground, with the houses of the village of Pangi perched on the hillside at a slightly lower level, and the cloud wreathed Chini peaks in the distance. After photographing the junction of the Spiti and Sutlej Rivers, Bourne returned to Sungnam for his baggage and then struck out SW for Chini, 'taking a few views on the road, whenever I found anything worthy', (B.J.P., 18 February 1870, p. 75). Pangi is situated a few miles NE of Chini. Duplicate at Y3022I/62. Bourne no. 1478.
