 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y3022AA/48

Scope and Contents

295x208mm. View from the street showing the frontage of Lawrence & Mayo, opticians, with a horse and carriage parked in the roadway. The graceful single storey building has a raised verandah with an entablature resting on eight Corinthian columns. The iron railings of the verandah have lifebuoys hanging from them announcing the firm's position as 'marine opticians', with the firm's trademark in the centre (an unidentified bird, presumably an eagle, grasping a large pair of spectacles). Photographer unknown, probably Johnston and Hoffman.
