Calcutta Currency Office, 1918
Scope and Contents
204x154mm. View of the Calcutta Currency Office at the S.E. corner of Dalhousie Square. The building stands on the site of the former premises of the Calcutta Auction Company. The land was purchased by the Agra Bank (later the Agra and Masterman Bank) and it was this firm which constructed the three storey Italianate building seen here. At some stage the Dalhousie Square frontage was sold to Government for use as a Currency Office, the Agra Bank occupying the rear portion until its liquidation, (Massey p.84).
