At the right, opposite the E. gate of Government House at the junction of Esplanade Row and Old Court House Street, is Scott Thomson's Corner. To the left of Government House are the Town Hall and, fronting onto Council House Street, the Legislative Department and the Treasury. The photograph was probably taken around 1866, since the uncompleted dome of the new General Post Office, opened to the public in 1868, can be seen in the right background.
