A file holding research material relating to the Duhme family of Cincinnati, Ohio, who ran a successful silversmith and jewellery company in the city. The Duhmes are ancestors of the poet, Anne Stevenson. The contents of the file mostly revolve around Herman Richard Duhme (1851-1923) and his descendants. The following are present, but are not limited to: a 50 cent banknote issued by the state of North Carolina, c 1862; a couple of items relating to Herman's schooling at Institution Roulet in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in 1868; two pieces of paper with a poem in three verses, written by Benson B. Hubbard in 1909, dedicated to the memory of F[rank] W. Stevenson [grandfather of Stevenson, who married one of Herman's daughters, Laura]; a typescript document with a family tree, starting from Herman[n] [Heinrich] Duhme [1790-1864] and going up to Anne Stevenson; a typescript summary of the family's history from their arrival in America in the early 1830s to 1868, transcriptions of several family letters, originals dating from 1868 to 1871; a photocopy of a marriage record between Herman Richard Duhme and Mary Mazzone; and a computer printout with two images of a family photograph, which includes Stevenson's grandmother, Laura.
