'Bitter Fame' Correspondence File 4, 1989
Scope and Contents
Two files holding letters sent to Anne Stevenson in connection to her work on the Sylvia Plath biography, Bitter Fame, and promotional activities relating to its publication in 1989. The first file holds items dating between January and June of that year, while the contents of the second file date from July to December. Correspondents include Trevor Thomas, Peter Davison and other representatives from the publisher, Houghton Mifflin; Jillian Becker, Olwyn Hughes, Ted Hughes, Carol Hughes, Tony Lacey, Ed Cohen, Edward Butscher, Sharon Bryan, Marianne Nault, Jean Hanff Korelitz, Sunny Schiffman, Sir Matthew Farrer, Lily Feiler, Patricia Hooper, Helga Huws, Sigrid Nielsen, and Norman MacCaig. The following are also present in the files: copies of letters sent by Stevenson, copies of letters sent between other parties, and a letter of agreement between Stevenson and Tony Lacey.
