'Bitter Fame' Correspondence Files, 1985 - 1997
Scope and Contents
Correspondence, contracts, notes and other material connected to Anne Stevenson's biography on Sylvia Plath, Bitter Fame: A Life of Sylvia Plath. Files are primarily composed of letters received by Stevenson from Ted Hughes' sister, Olwyn; representatives from the publishers, Penguin and Houghton Mifflin; and those she interviewed or who contributed in some fashion to the book, such as Dido Merwin, Lucas Myers, and Richard Murphy. There are also copies of letters sent by Stevenson to various correspondents, and copies of letters sent between other parties.
