Royal Observatory Observations of Sun and Planet Groupings: records, 1860 - 1949
Scope and Contents
Registers of Royal Observatory Greenwich observations of sun and planet groupings, in two sets.
The first set (covering 1860-1861 and 1864-1875) takes the form of notebooks with handwritten data, often in tables.
From 1876 there was a new format: handwritten registers on bound printed Royal Observatory, Greenwich 'Forms No. 225'. Data on the printed forms is arranged under the following column headings: day of observation in R.A., number of observation in R.A., tabular error in R.A., day of observation in N.P.D., number of observation in N.P.D., tabular error in in N.P.D., mean error in R.A., mean error in N.P.D., mean day of observations. All forms are also labelled 'Transit Circle'. There are no surviving registers for 1876-1887. Instead, the second set of registers runs from 1888-1949.
