155 x 207 mm. Head and shoulders portrait of Sir Alfred Milner, 1st Viscount Milner (1854-1925), seated at a desk. Milner served as Under Secretary for Finance in Egypt 1889-92, Chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue 1892-97, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope 1897-1901, Governor of the Transvaal and Orange River Colony 1901-05, High Commissioner for South Africa 1897-1905, Secretary of State for War 1918-19 and Secretary of State for the Colonies 1919-21.
