Samoan troops under European command, 1899
Scope and Contents
195 x 130 mm. A view showing two rows of men armed with rifles, in front of whom stand two Europeans in command (one of whom wears an English sailor’s shirt). This contingent is probably part of the force of followers of Malietoa Tanu who were brought to Apia from Savai’I and Tutuila to be trained in the war against Mata’afa.
