Scope and Contents

This section of the Roger Law Archive provides a range of audiovisual material relating to Luck & Flaw, Spitting Image Productions Limited and its subsidiaries, and Roger Law's post-Spitting Image activities. There is also material present that highlights the cultural impact of the television series, Spitting Image.

This part of the archive has been split into the following: music videos for the bands, Genesis and Little Angels; recordings of Peter Fluck's, Roger Law's and John Lloyd's appearances on British radio stations, mainly BBC Radio 4, either as guests or as the presenter of a programme; a selection of television programmes and short-films produced by SIPL, its subsidiaries and by Law; examples of episodes from the Childrens' television show, Round the Bend, which included puppets made by the Spitting Image Workshop; items relating to the international Spitting Image franchises, including footage filmed in the mid-1990s for a proposed documentary on these franchises; documentaries about Luck & Flaw, Spitting Image and Roger Law, and also documentaries that either mention Spitting Image or involved contributions from SIPL and its subsidiaries; examples of corporate videos that SIPL produced for various external companies, intended for use either at industry conferences or as part of a corporation's internal activities; examples of commercials produced by SIPL and its subsidiaries for external companies and products; promotional showreels for SIPL and its subsidiaries, produced to promote these companies and their services to prospective clients; and miscellaneous audiovisual items that either don't fit into the aforementioned categories or because their contents are currently unknown.

Arrangement

Series are arranged in chronological order or as close to chronological order as can be discerned. An exception to this is the series of miscellaneous material, which has been put at the end of the sub-fonds. Chronological order is mostly based on the date of the carrier, rather than when the audio or video content on the carrier was originally recorded. For example, there is a DVD from the 2000s/2010s that contains a copy of the 1980 BBC Arena documentary on Luck & Flaw, and the carrier's date has determined its place in the arrangement, not the content.

Separated Materials

See sub-level descriptions for information on related material found in other parts of the archive.

General

A significant amount of audiovisual material has been weeded out of the presented archive. Some items have been removed due to holding duplicate content, and others have not been included because carriers are either damaged and/or there is mould present.
