 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y303B/63

Scope and Contents

265 x 215 mm. Showing the elephant carrying the Tooth relic, with two flanking elephants and surrounding crowds. The group stands at the corner of Hill Street and Trincomalee Street. Photograph by Scowen & Co/Apothecaries Company. Scowen’s original signature in the photograph has been inked over and stamped by the Colombo Apothecaries Company. This would imply that the latter firm took over Scowen’s stock at some time in the 1890s. The signature on Y303B/59 has also been inked over but not restamped.
