Queen Victoria’s 60 years Jubilee Parade at Kandy July 1897, 1897
Scope and Contents
275 x 214 mm. Showing troops drawn up on parade, with artillery pieces in the foreground and spectators lining the field. The main Jubilee celebrations took place on 29th June 1897 (see Y303B/5) but may well have continued into the following month. This parade, or salute, is certainly not taking place on the main Esplanade and is probably in the Bogambra Ground. Photograph probably by W.L.H. Skeen & Co.
