Tunnels No. 6 & 6A, 1867
Scope and Contents
168 x 90 mm. View looking along the line between deep rock cuttings towards Tunnel No. 6 (40 yards). The mouth of Tunnel No. 6A (also of 40 yards) can also be seen. The tunnels are situated on 'The Conical Hill' between the Deckande Bank (see Y303A/7) and 'Sensation Rock' (see Y303B/53). ‘Tunnels No. 6 and 6a are shown by Messrs Slinn & Co. in one wonderfully rugged view, the reflected light bringing into equal prominence the sleepers and rails of the iron way and the facets of the blasted and perpendicular rocks which rise on each side', (p. 11).
