Mural in the Entrance Hall, marking the Society’s centenary in 1968, 1967

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/RCS/Ilf/13

Scope and Contents

The mural was the work of Mick Pilcher (born 1929) whose work included murals in the University of Ibadan, the Parliament Buildings in Lusaka, and the Anglo-American Corporation Building in Lusaka. The RCS mural showed the flags of the Commonwealth, each within the geographical outline of their country: all were of equal size to indicate equality of status. Space was left for additions, but these were never made, and as the mural became soiled and unsightly it was eventually removed. 155 x 16 mm.
