This file contains two versions of a diary kept by Benson during the expedition. The first, shorter text is entitled 'Diary (Abridged)'. The second is an expanded version written during Apr. and May 1934, 'The full private diary kept on the expedition, together with additional notes and conclusions which were not included in the original'. The latter includes copies of the 'Meteorological observations taken by B Sledge Party, July to Sept. 1933' and of the meteorological report Benson submitted to the Royal Geographical Society. It also contains maps, plans, and three photographs portraying Benson, and the party upon its departure and return.
