Scope and Contents
In this volume Bowen describes an educational visit to West Africa in 1968 organised by the Institute, a lecture tour in Canada undertaken in 1969 after an invitation to address the Canadian Society for Education through Art, and visits to Denmark to lecture in 1972 and 1978. A major section discusses Bowen’s work as Curator. He reflects upon the selection and organisation of two hundred exhibitions with varying media in the Art Gallery between 1962 and 1979, featuring the work of Scottish, Canadian, Jamaican, Australian, New Zealand, Indian, Pakistani, Nigerian, Rhodesian and other Commonwealth artists. The memoir concludes with Bowen’s retirement in 1979.
