Scope and Contents

The file contains extracts from treaties and more particularly from a report made by the King’s Advocate, Sir C. Robinson, on 8 July 1825, containing an opinion on the treaties of 1773 and 1786, together with a report by the King’s Advocate to the Foreign Office on 13 February 1828, with respect to the right of Great Britain to the British settlements in the Bay of Honduras. There are also copies of documents appointing officials to British Honduras, including a document signed by Edward Trelawny, Captain General, Governor and Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s islands of Jamaica, Bonaca, Ratan and the Honduras, appointing William Pitts, Captain Lieutenant of all the forces within Bonaca, Ratan and the Honduras, dated 1773.
