Barbican Art Gallery, 1973, 1991
Scope and Contents
A file relating to Spitting Image Productions Limited's involvement in an exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery, The Cutting Edge, which ran from 13 August to 11 October 1992. The file contains a letter from the gallery, dated 2 December 1991, to Angela Sheam at SIPL, asking whether another meeting can be arranged between Roger Law, Carol Brown and John Hoole; the latter two being staff at the gallery. The remaining items in the file are two photocopies of a transcript for a lecture given by Hans Hess at the Institute of Contemporary Art, on 4 November 1969, titled: John Heartfield and the Nature of Artistic Reality; one copy appears to be from around 1973 and the other is a later reproduction of the 1973 copy. The Cutting Edge exhibition accompanied another that was held at the same time, which focused on the work of artist John Heartfield.
