Reference Code: GBR/0012/MS Add.10275/3/7/1/1/1

Scope and Contents

A file containing two promotion-related items concerning the British satirical puppet television show, Spitting Image. The first is an original ring-bound proposal document for the series (SI/1952), dated 1982. Bearing one of the programme's initial titles, Spit'n'Image, the proposal provides an introduction on the proposed production and its premise, along with information on its format and a demo video currently in production, and biographies on those involved in the project. At the back of the proposal, four Clouded Tiger Cards postcards with Luck & Flaw plasticine model illustrations have been glued to the pages; other postcards appear to be missing. This document would have been submitted to Central Independent Television and other broadcasters.

The second item is a brochure for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' Conference Centre, which is accompanied by correspondence, an order form and an attendees list. The material present relates to Spitting Image Productions Limited hiring the conference centre's Princess Anne Theatre, in order to give a private screening of the special episode, Down and Out in the White House, in September 1986.
