Scope and Contents
Volume of printed 'Forms No. 261' with handwritten entries for photographic plates, made with the 13-inch Astrographic Equatorial. Title on volume is erroneous as the books runs to 13 February 1931 with plate nos 9737-10315. Numbered '11' on the spine.
Column headings are: no. of photo, date, observer, position of telescope, orient. screw and focus readings, R.A., Dec. North, Micrometer scale readings (R.A. and Dec.), clock times of exposures (begin, end, duration), barometer (external and internal therm.), plate and development, field of object, remarks, and signature. Photographs registered include Comet Grigg Skjellerup, Comet 1927d (Stearns), Comet Reid, Comet Pons Winnecke, the eclipse field, and Eros.
A note after the entry for 25 October 1928 states that the instrument was dismounted for the solar eclipse expedition to Siam and returned and remounted on 15-20 July 1929. Another note before Plate 11012 states that the polar axis and top casting were sent to Grubb Parsons & Co. for repair on 20 March 1930 and returned on 23 April 1930.
