Scope and Contents
Volume of printed 'Forms No. 261' with handwritten entries for photographic plates nos 1153-2450, made with the 13-inch Astrographic Equatorial.
Column headings are: no. of photo, date, position of telescope, orient. of screw, observer (initials), R.A., Dec. North, Micrometer scale readings (R.A. and Dec.), clock times of exposures (begin, end, duration), barometer (external and internal therm.), plate and development, remarks, signature. Many plates are also marked 'Chart' or 'Cat' [Catalogue] in red.
The volume includes entries signed by Christies' "Lady Computers" as observers: A.E. [Alice Everett] and A.R. [Annie Russell, later Maunder]. It includes observations of stars, Comet Quinesset (1893), Nova Aurigae (1893), Jupiter (1893), Comet Denning (1894), and Mars (1894). Plates 1972-3 include a note by P.J. Melotte dated 1948.
