Scope and Contents

1. Correspondence and notes relating to political developments in Malaya from former Malayan civil servants S.W. Jones and Meadows Frost, the architect John McNeill, the lawyer Sir Arnold Robinson, Edward Gent, assistant under-secretary of the Colonial Office, and the politicians Patrick Donner and W.W. Astor (circa 40 sheets). Included is a copy of the House of Commons Parliamentary Debates, 6 June, 1944, containing a speech by Astor, and a paper entitled ‘Recruitment to Government Services in British Malaya’ by the former under-secretary of the Federated Malay States, C.W. Harrison.

2. Published copies of pamphlets and articles written by Maxwell, accompanied by some related correspondence, drafts and research notes:
