Miscellaneous Artwork File 2, 1983 - 1996
Scope and Contents
A portfolio of miscellaneous artwork, both originals and copies, produced by the Spitting Image Workshop, mostly by Pablo Bach and David Stoten. This portfolio is separated into the following seven bundles:
1. An assortment of caricatures of Roger Law, along with birthday cards for Law made by staff and family members.
2. An assortment of caricatures for the following individuals: Roger Law, John Lloyd, Mick Hockney, Rosie Hoare, Jim Hennequin, and Harry Enfield. Also present is a small amount of reference photographs, relating to Enfield.
3. A bundle of animal-related working drawings. Some of these items may be connected to the BBC Arena event evening, Animal Night, aired by BBC 2 on 16 December 1989 [see entry MS Add.10275/3/2/2/2 for production agreement].
4. A bundle of food-related working drawings. Some of these items are connected to a BBC Arena event evening, Food Night, aired by BBC 2 on 15 December 1990 [also see entry MS Add.10275/3/2/2/2 for production agreement].
5. A bundle of working drawings for proposed stamps, some of which depict Bela Lugosi's Dracula, and others the British comedian, Tommy Cooper. The Dracula stamp, along with one depicting Boris Karloff's Frankenstein's Monster, were submitted to the Royal Mail in 1996/1997, but were rejected [see entry MS Add.10275/3/6/7 for examples of these stamps].
6. A bundle of ceramic merchandise-related drawings, including those for the Margaret Thatcher 'toilet terror' [see entry MS Add.10275/3/3/5/1] and the Margaret Thatcher 1989 anniversary toby jug [see entry MS Add.10275/3/3/5/3/1].
7. A bundle of merchandise-related drawings.
Items are labelled with their original 'SI' reference number.
