Astérix, 1990
Scope and Contents
A visifile holding original artwork relating to a proposed puppet television series of the French comic book series, Astérix, which would have been produced by Spitting Image Productions Limited (SI/933 and 934). The majority of the artwork relates to the proposal booklet that was produced for this potential series, and contains: a drawing by Albert Uderzo, on a sheet of celluloid, which depicts Roger Law and Peter Fluck meeting the characters, Astérix, Obelix, and Dogmatix; and working drawings of the characters to be featured in the show. Also present is an explanatory drawing to demonstrate how the Astérix puppet would work, and a proof for the proposal booklet front cover, which utilises Uderzo's illustration.
