A series of 22 letters written by Hay describing his working and social life, and material relating to Hay's conditions of employment. The file also includes correspondence with D.H. Simpson regarding the donation of the papers to the RCS.

Biographical / Historical
John Hay served as Assistant with the Chembong Malay Rubber Company from 1915 to 1919. He worked for two years at the Chembong Estate in tapping and factory work, and for one year on the Batu Sablas Estate, gaining experience of the opening up, planting and upkeep of new clearings.
