A brief description of Long's experiences in the cultivation of rubber, printed in 'Malaya', July 1961, 26-27. The file also includes typescript copies of two articles by Long: 'Rubber tree selection: thinning-out in mature areas', 'The Planter', Sept. 1920 and 'Rubber tree selection: new clearing and future plantings', 'The Planter', Nov. 1920.

Biographical / Historical
F.R. Long joined the student staff of the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew, in 1905. In 1908 he took up the position of Superintendent, Government Plantations, Perak and worked in the Agricultural Department of the Federated Malay States until 1920. Long later managed the Luna Rubber estates, Kedah.
