Biographical / Historical
Maurice Hillier’s career in education began as a teacher at the High School, Malacca [Melaka], in 1888. He then served as Sub-Inspector of Schools and Head of the Malacca Training College for Teachers. Hillier briefly worked as Superintendant of Education, Penang and Province Wellesley, before being appointed Inspector of Schools, Singapore and Malacca, a post he held until his retirement.
