Scope and Contents

The main part of the collection is comprised of writing by Peter Pierce on Rider Haggard and Pierce's correspondence with the Royal Commonwealth Society. These papers are supplemented by material on Haggard compiled by Donald Simpson, R.C.S. Librarian, and his correspondence with Kent Fedorowich, a research student working in a related area of study.

Biographical / Historical

Peter Pierce (b. 1950) attended the Universities of Tasmania and Oxford before joining the University of Melbourne, Victoria. While at Oxford he was awarded a B.Litt. for a study of Rider Haggard that utilised material from the R.C.S. collections. Pierce was the general editor of 'The Oxford literary guide to Australia' (Oxford University Press, 1993).
