Biographical / Historical
Ronald Alfred Silow (1908-1990), plant geneticist, worked in the U.K., U.S.A., West Indies, China and Australasia. He was head of the F.A.O. Program for Atomic Energy in Agriculture, based in Rome, 1955-1964, and was on the staff of International Atomic Energy in Agriculture, Vienna, 1964-1968. The collection includes material relating to the Bertha St Aubyn Foundation, which was founded in memory of Ronald Silow's wife (who died of cancer in 1988), with the intention of establishing a hospice in Cambridge.
