Scope and Contents
A 16mm, colour cinefilm, without sound. The writing on the film spool reads 'Sea Island. Florida. St. Lawrence Jan Feb 53. Snowshoe Parade Feb 53’.
0 - 16sec. People seated at two long tables outdoors, eating a meal. All are formally dressed in either suits and ties, or dresses.
16sec - 23sec. Horse-drawn carriage.
23sec - 35sec. Store with signs reading ‘Indian River Fruit Juice Bar’, ‘Branded fruit shippers’, and ‘[illegible word] novelties, gifts, souvenirs’.
35sec - 1min 21sec. Shots of dolphins, turtles and fish underwater. Scenes of dolphins jumping and taking fish from the hands of a keeper.
1min 21sec - 1min 56sec. People picking oranges or grapefruits, and eating them.
1min 56sec - 2min 12sec. Woman walking in surf and kicking a ball to a man.
2min 12sec - 2min 41sec. Street scenes with palm trees and a sign saying ‘Ocean bathing, Olympic pool, Dressing rooms [illegible words] $1.00’. Beachside swimming and sunbathing and people in the surf.
2min 41sec - 2min 50sec. Small boats and jetties.
2min 50sec - 3min 3sec. Countryside scenes.
3min 3sec - 4min. Very dark section, which appears to be taken from a moving vehicle and shows a snow-capped mountain, snow scenes and a house.
4min - 4min 24sec. River with a bridge, ice and a snowy shoreline.
4min 24sec - 4min 47sec. Outdoor ice hockey game.
4min 47sec - 5min 20sec. Flower stall and other street scenes.
5min 20sec - 7min 11sec. Outdoor scenes showing people racing in snowshoes, and then people dressed in uniforms. Followed by a ‘snowshoe parade’ with marching bands.
7min 11sec - 7min 20sec. Scenes taken on a boat on a river.
