35 letters (some incomplete) and six letter-cards from Christopher Hassall to Joan Hassall, 1940-1945 and dated without year (the earliest probably early/mid-1920s); one letter from John Hassall to Joan Hassall, 1945; one letter from Jamie Hamilton (of Hamish Hamilton Ltd) to Sir Edward Marsh, 1939, forwarded by Marsh to Joan Hassall and bearing a note by him to her; one letter from Laurence Irving [to Joan Hassall], dated without year; one letter from John Copley to Joan Hassall, 1938; and one letter from [?] Dean-Smith to Sir Sydney Cockerell, 1954. With two variants of Joan Hassall's birthday card to Christopher Hassall, ('Birthday Greetings to My Brother March 24th 1942'), each consisting of a printed letterpress quotation from Oliver Goldsmith with pen-and-wash borders on a folded sheet.
