This series contains drafts or preprints authored or co-authored by Hawking for which no evidence of subsequent publication has been found. Also includes a file of biographical and bibliographical material (CVs, research statements, etc.) produced by Hawking or his office.

Conditions Governing Access
The Stephen Hawking Archive is generally available to the holder of a reader's ticket for the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library, West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DR. Access to some files is restricted in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018. Access to some files is temporarily restricted pending conservation treatment. See individual file entries for details. Audiovisual and digital content requires further processing to make it accessible for consultation; this material does not currently appear in this catalogue. Access information, including opening hours and how to obtain a reader's ticket, appears as part of the Library's website (www.lib.cam.ac.uk).

Loose typescripts were assembled into files by the archivist; generally, if a document appeared to have been formatted for eventual distribution in printed form, it was included in this series, whereas items that appeared to be scripts [i.e. with slide prompts and no references] were included in the Lectures series, MS Add.10440/19. Best effort was made to arrange the files in chronological order.
