Birthday and Christmas Cards, c 1955-c 1962
Scope and Contents
A file, split into two sub-folders, containing a number of birthday and Christmas cards made and sent by Roger Law (and his wife, Deirdre) to his family. The following items are present: a Christmas card with a lino cut print design of Father Christmas at a dinner table, with the print hand-coloured with wax crayons (RL/Pre-/1027); a Christmas card with a woodcut print design that resembles (to a certain degree) the face of a French-suite playing card (RL/Pre-/1131); and a number of hand-drawn birthday cards to his mother, father, and maternal grandmother (RL/Pre-/1526 (a)-(d) and 1527 (f)). There is also a birthday card from Roger to his mother, which has a woodcut print design on tissue paper of a group of people singing; this design is part of a larger one that featured on a cartoon strip displayed at Peter Cook's The Establishment nightclub, in London (RL/Pre-/930).
