Scope and Contents

(1) Documents relating to ‘the confession of faith’ subscribed by the household of King James VI, ‘the general bande’, and ‘the acte of the secreit counsaill’; (2) ‘Certaine annuall tyths for St. Austins and St. Ffaiths united payd quarterly. The quarter ending at Michlmas 1689’; this is followed by private accounts for a household, 1691-2; (3) Watton's Speculum Christiani and Rolle's Novem Virtutes in English. Paragraphs in Latin and English, prose and verse, on subjects of divinity, with prayers, etc., from the fathers, Richard of Hampole, and others, written in the fourteenth century; imperfect at both ends, only paragraphs XV-LXVI remaining; among them is the hymn ‘Swete Ihu Criste to the / I a synfulle wreche ȝelde me’; (4) ‘La vie d’Æsope tirée des anciens auteurs par Monsieur de Meziriac’, beginning ‘Comme il est arrivé’; by Claude Gaspar Bachet de Meziriac; (5) heads of sermons; (6) rules for study, in Latin; (7) notes and extracts from various authors, mostly astronomical, including a catalogue of early Christian apologists; (8) John Moore, Bishop of Norwich, a book of accounts, similar to those in (2); (9) ‘Epistolarum liber illustrium et epigrammatum selectorum’, by J. C. [John Coke?] of Trinity College, Cambridge, c. 1638.
