Scope and Contents
'The hihstory of tipography, its originall and prograse from authentick recordes maniscriptes and printed bookes, collected with grate paynes by Jo. Bagford, to which is added the lives of the most eminent printers …': a collection of extracts relating to the history of printing, with the titles of works by early printers. MSS Dd.10.56-57 appear to be two of the books mentioned by Humphrey Wanley in 'An account of Mr Bagford's collections for his history of printing', Philosophical transactions, 1707, No. 310, p. 2407.
