Treatise on fortifications, Seventeenth century
Scope and Contents
'Trattato di fortificatione: dell' Eccmo Sigor. Galileo Galilei, mathematico, nello studio di Padova'; the manuscript corresponds nearly with the abridged form of the work, i.e. it does not contain the passages marked with inverted commas in the edition of Giambatesta Venturi (Modena, 1818); the 25 questions which Venturi decided were spurious appear in the manuscript under no other name than Galileo's, as well as a list of things requisite in a siege. The figures for the latter chapters of the work are not present.
