Scope and Contents
(1) ‘Sir Robert Cotton’s treatise concerning the meanes how the kinge maie levey monies’, imperfect; (2) declaration of the Duke of Norfolk regarding those things omitted in his examinations touching proceedings with Mary Queen of Scots, 10 November 1571; (3) inventory of ‘goods, stuf, plate, juels, and quyk catell’ belonging to Thomas, Duke of Norfolk, remaining in Framlingham Castle and thereabouts in the county of Suffolk, taken by John Seint-clere, appreciator general to Thomas, Archbishop of York, 28 May 1524, in a contemporary hand; (4) ‘The historie of actions done in England about the beginynge of the raigne of King James, written and set forth by an unknowne author, concernynge Essex, Carr, Northampton and Overbury’, imperfect, apparently related to Sir Fulke Greville, ‘The five yeares of King James ...', printed in London, 1643; see MS Ee.04.14, no. 1; (5) ‘The arguments and opinions concernynge the case of shippe money, of Sir John Brampston, knight, lord chief justice of the King’s Bench, in the Exchequer Chamber ...’, 9 June 1638; (6) further arguments on the same subject as (5), and in the same handwriting; (7) ‘Computus omnium et singulorum Ballivorum collectorum receptorum et firmariorum terrarum possessionum et reverencionum spiritualium et temporalium episcopati Norvicencis pertinentium in com. Norff. et Suff., A. D. 1626’; (8)-(11) removed from the volume, (8) is described separately.
