Scope and Contents

(1) Letter from Pope Pius V to Mary Queen of Scots, 13 July 1570; (2) 'Ane informatioune of probable and infallible karecteuers and presumptiouns qwherebie it apeers evidentlie that the Queen moder to our soveraine lord not onlie ves previe of ye horrible and unworthe morthour perpeteat in ye person of ye king of good memorie his hienes fader but als. wes ye weeling instrument chief origine and causer of yt unnatural crueltie'; (3) 'These be the wordes which John Habrowne of Bolton and John Hey of Talley did say to me Thomas Crayford, upon the scaffold, at the hower of theire death', original, signed at the bottom of the page by 'Thomas Crayfurd of Fordangill'; (4) 'The secretories Lothyngtons wordis to Mr Henrie Pouewis', beginning 'Imprymis upone sertane talke they had of the quene of Scots'; (5) Draft of the will of Mary Queen of Scots, 1577; (6) 'A brief discourse of the usaige of Henry the King of Scottis sonne to me the Earle of Lennux be the quene his wyff'; (7) letter from Fontenay to Mary Queen of Scots, Edinburgh, 25 November 1584; (8) 'The manner of the proceedinge to the funerall of Marie quene of Scotland, which was observed on Tuesday, being the firste of Awguste, 1587', being merely a list of the persons present (see also MS Dd.12.65, no. 27).
