Scope and Contents

(1) 'Placita concilii in Farnamensi castello, 17 Augusti A. D. 1569. presentibus Duce Norfolchiæ, Comite Bedfordiæ, Comite Lecestriæ, Regii Cubiculi Præfecto, Domino Secretario'; (2) 'Responsio magno aceruo articulorum quos Burgosius quidam Hispani oratoris familiaris eius Leganti nomine, secretioria consillis Dominis obtulit. 1569; (3) (a) 'Articuli a D. Francisco Geraldi equite secritoris consilii dominis regis Lusitani nomini propositi anno dni 1571. Mensis Januarij'; (b) 'Responsio quorundam dominorum privati consilii articulo a D. Francesco Geraldi regis Lusitani nomine proposito 1571 mensis Januarij'; (4) Letters of Queen Elizabeth I (1568-1586): these letters are only copies of epistles addressed to various sovereigns by Elizabeth; there are 306 letters, according to the numbers in the margin; see the description of MS Mm.01.43, no. 2, in 'A catalogue of the manuscripts preserved in the library of the University of Cambridge', volume 5, 1867, for a detailed list; (5) Speeches of Sir Nicholas Bacon, Lord Keeper: (a) 'The effecte of the speeche used by the Lord Keeper unto the Queen's Majestie at such tyme as her highness called him first to serve'; (b) 'A speeche used by the Lord Keeper unto the Lords assembled in the parliament; (c) 'An oration made to the Queens Majestie by the Lord Keeper concerninge her marriadge and the succession of the crowne'; (d) 'A speeche used by the Lord Keeper about ten dayes befor Christmas 1559 at the counsaile board, concerning an aide required by the Scotts for the removinge of the Frenche out of Scotland'; (e) 'A speche used by the Lord Keeper of the Counsell 1562, when it was brought in question, whether the interviewe between he Queene of Scotts and the Queens Majestie were convenient to be allowed or no'; (f) 'A speeche used by the Lord Keeper amongst the Lords of the Starre Chamber 1569'; (g) 'An oration made by the Lord Keeper in the parliment then endinge to the nobles and commons in the presence of the Queens majestie'; (h) 'The effect of my Lord Keepers speeche used to Mr Bell when he was called to be Lord Chief Baron'; see also MS Ii.05.08, no. 4.
