This manor had formed part of the possessions of Chertsey Monastery, and in 1590 was granted by Q. Elizabeth to her Latin Secretary, Sir John Wolley, and at the time of this inquisition was in the possession of his son, Sir Francis. See Manning and Bray's Surrey, III. 242.
