Scope and Contents

(1) ‘Discourse of the office of compositions for alienations’, beginning ‘All the finances (or revenues) of the imperial crowne of this realme of England bee, eyther extraordinarie, or ordinary ...’; subjoined is a note, ‘Look the enlarged copie hereof in 4o. which was done in Novemb. 1595’; (2) ‘A declaration of the yearely profites of this office (prima facie) synce the first erection thereof’ [18 Eliz.]; (3) ‘The casual and standing fees theare’; (4) ‘Precedentes of the practize theare’; (5) ‘Of the tenure in cheif’; (6) ‘Of tenures not in cheif’: (7) ‘Graund serjeancie’; (8) ‘Petite serjeancie’; (9) ‘Licence of alienation’; (10) ‘Alienations diverse’; (11) ‘Processe and fine’; (12) ‘Pardone for alienations’; (13) ‘Homage and fealtie’; (14) ‘The case of Sr Thomas Tresham argued (upon a fine for alienation without licence) by Mr Edm. Plowden, 25 Elizabeth’; (15) ‘Warde, marriage, reliefe, and the king’s wydowe’. The author’s name (spelt Lambeord), preceded by the words σὺν θεῷ, is written in Saxon characters, with the date 1590, at the beginning and end of the first discourse, and also on f. 36b. On a flyleaf at the beginning is a table of contents.
