Scope and Contents

154 x 202 mm. Showing Tuanku Abdul Rahman kissing the Keris Kerajaan (Sword of State) during the ceremony installing him as Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Independent Malaya. The elected Kingship of of Malaya was the result of proposals of the Reid Constitutional Commission of 1956 which covered provisions for a head of state to be elected from amongst the rulers of the various states, and who would hold office for five years. Tuanku Abdul Rahman served only three years of his term of office before his death in 1960.
