Menghadap at Sri Menanti, Negri Sembilan, 1934, 1934

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/BAM 5/16

Scope and Contents

197 x 148 mm. Showing Tuanku Abdul Rahman and his consort Tunku Ampuan Kursiah seated on the decorated dais in the audience hall for the Menghadap. The triennal menghadap was inaugurated at Sri Menanti in 1901 and on these occasions the ruling chiefs paid homage to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar in front of members of the royal family and government officials. Sheppard (1965) states that Abdul Rahman held his first menghadap in 1937, but the presence of Caldecott and London in the following print would appear to substantiate Brysons date of 1934. Caldecotts head (blurred) can just be seen in this print.
