‘Imp[erial] Institute’: images relating to India
Scope and Contents
A collection of slides, presumably owned by or acquired from the Imperial Institute [later the Commonwealth Institute]. The slides are captioned and appear to relate to images commissioned by the Colonial Office Visual Instruction Committee (COVIC). COVIC was tasked with producing a series of lantern slides and textbooks illustrating the British Empire in the early 20th century to aid the teaching of geography. The original card slide box has not been retained. The slides were rehoused in archival-standard packaging at the point of cataloguing.
