Observations and related papers by James Inman. Inman joined HMS Investigator as the astronomer in June 1803 at New South Wales, after the departure of astronomer John Crosley. When the officers and men of the Investigator were transferred to HMS Porpoise, Inman remained at Port Jackson with his instruments, later joining the ship Rolla, commanded by Mr Cumming, which participated in rescuing the men of the Porpoise and Cato ships lost at Wreck Reefs.
Included are observations made by Inman in New South Wales; observations, a meteorological journal and a narrative account for a voyage of the ship Rolla between New South Wales and China in 1803; and observations made by Inman on the return trip from China to England on the Warley East Indiaman.
